PRESS & REVIEWS

from The San Francisco Chronicle

A recently launched label from writer and winemaker Ben Spencer harnesses a little-known slice of Monterey County. Transparent in the best way - with buoyant fruit and that warm kirsch note, plus gorgeous accents of sage, wild strawberry and mace and bright mineral. Made in 3-year-old oak, here's Grenache in its pure element. – Jon Bonne, Wine Editor; Read the full article here ...

from Master Sommelier Richard Betts

Drinking Outside of the box (my box anyhow) and diggin' it! 08 Leojami Viognier - bright, floral, super energy and not @all heavy. Yum!

from The Rhone Report

2008 Leojami Cedar Lane Vineyards Viognier (USA, California, Central Coast, Monterey County) Very fresh and fragrant, the 2008 Leojami Cedar Lane Vineyards Viognier was aged for 8 months on lees in neutral French oak and stainless steel. It possesses crisp citrus and stone fruits on the nose with refreshing, edgy minerality and floral notes coming through with air. The wine is medium bodied with a clean, balanced feel and a quality finish. Drink this delicious, food friendly white over the next 1 to 2 years. (88 pts.)

from The Carmel Pine Cone

[The Leojami Viognier] is beautifully aromatic, fruitforward and floral in the nose, and those characteristics carry over to be bright and full in the mouth ... 50 cases [made], using neutral oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, and fermenting the wine on the lees, which gives it nice body along with its crisp, green-apple fruit.

from The Monterey Herald

[The Leojami Viognier from Cedar Lane Vineyard] a classy, lovely, floral Viognier aroma and fluid palate that prompted me to pour a smidge in a bottle to take to the dinner table ... a delightfully rich and balanced combo with a veggie soup comprised of leeks, fennel, tomato and potato — and shined with the post-meal See's milk and dark chocolate.

The Cheese Shop Wine List

[The Leojami Viognier from Cedar Lane Vineyard] Fresh, floral and vibrant viognier from Leojami, a new winery sourcing their fruit from the best vineyards in the Arroyo Seco Appellation. Winemaker Ben Spencer ferments in stainless steel and neutral oak barrels, producing a wine of wonderful acidity and crisp citrus flavors that is well balanced with a creamy mouth feel. This is a perfect wine to pair with a variety of foods but we recommend enjoying a glass with some fresh goatıs milk chevre and crusty bread.
